In 2021 the Miami Center for Racial Justice received a grant of 25,000 dollars from the Florida Humanities Council to engage youth and police in discussion groups aimed to build better relations between the minority communities and law enforcement. To those ends, the Center held a series of listening meetings on the campuses of Florida Memorial University and Barry University in which police officers and students engaged in meaningful conversations.  In the end, some attendees expressed interest in becoming law enforcement officers.
